Im going to do the for conversion on my kr1s with zxr 250 forks which means i am going to have to get new bars and mudguard however you dont seem to be able to get race parts for the zxr250.
Does anyone lnow what size the zxr 250 forks are and will zxr400 bars and mudguard fit my zxr 250 forks
Zxr250 forks are 50mm at the top yoke and 51 at the bottom. I would imagine zxr400 ones are the same diameter so clip ons should fit. The front mudguard wont fit i dont think pretty much everything about the 250 is different to the 400.
Yes im using the full zxr 250 front end in my race bike as the suspension isnt the greatest when you start to push it!However i bought some forks of this guy on Evil bay and he said they were fine but they have little pits in the front end and is cutting into one of the seals at the moment.
Does anyone know if the stantions are the same as a zxr 400 as its like £70 per stantion new and rechroming is about the same
mate, if you can get them for ONLY 70 pounds I'd buy new
I doubt theyre interchangeable given the 250 is longer than the 400's
you can use 800 and 1200 wet and dry to reduce some of the rust or stone chips, serious pits may be filled with araldite etc
by now most second hand ZXR ones will be shot - the enclosing mudguard designs hide faults until problems have developed.
well someone said to me to use a swiss file on them, the pits and rust are right at the very bottom end of the fork legs.
Can i fill and shape the areldite when applying to the forks
Oh by the way i got the stantion price wrong they are £104.00 each to replace
Araldite comes out after not very long. It won't stick to the rust in the pit.
The problem is that the rust goes under the surface of the chrome where you can't get at it.
The most effective short term fix I've ever used is super glue gel. A little dab on the chip and then leave it 24 hours. Use a Swiss file to take the excess off and it will last about 6 months. Not so long if you get it wet regularly. If it does get wet the glue starts to deteriorate and them falls out, so it's worth a look every so often.
Super glue works better than Araldite because it is less viscous and flows better.
Zxr250 forks are 50mm at the top yoke and 51 at the bottom.
Sorry i think i made a mistake i double checked after jan said that zxr400h are 50 and 50, thinking they should be the same. I am wrong but they arent the same.
zxr250 (c model at least) are 50 at the top and 50.5 at the bottom. This confused me slightly.
Why can't kawasaki be like yamaha and re-use everything.
Well after a long hard think, im going to get them rechromed at H.C.P.&G. In Newark, NG22 9LD Tele 01623 862314, Ive got to strip the forks and send them to him, £136.00 which includes return postage
