Thanks chaps, and thanks to all for all the help, parts and info.I hope I can put something back.
There are a few parts still to bolt on to the chassis but its basically ready for a motor.I'm going to start to strip the motor next week and then I'll have a better idea of whats needed. It had no KIPS valves, linkages at all when we got it but I,ve managed to get these on the forum.

I've stripped all outer casings from the motor, and cleaned off some seriously stubborn gaskets. If I've got time tomorrow I'll get the flywheel off and split the motor. It looks fairly good inside but some one has allready been in there.
I'll order the bits I'll need to rebuild it,then decide wether to have the cases vapourblasted cos my cleaning efforts are'nt doing it
Today I have mostly been listening to AC/DC
I am off to watch disc turbo, twist the throttle cos its about the big K :D

The motor is all stripped :) Had to get some help with the flywheel WIF come off ](*,)thanks Stan. Now I can get the cases vapour blasted. The barrells look a bit tired to me so its looking like a full top end rebuild, replate, pistons etc.
The gear box, clutch all seem OK which brings me to the nitty gritty how far should I go with the crank :-k
What does the panel recomend.I'm all ears

All the way pablo if you have got the money spare,i had 2 brilliant engines, and both failed with crankseals :( so while you have got the crank out.....thats my 2penneth. :?:

I'm with Garye on this one. If youve got the coin for it, get it done now so you know it's all spot on. Can think of little worse than you getting it all back together and taking it out for it's maiden run only to have to pull it all back down again to do the crankseals.

You're both right of course gents.I'll have to do a bit more research and ringing round.
I will also have to be selling some more kwak parts to raise the funds :-k

Dont do that m8y,if your competent at rebuilding the engine, drop it back in and run it till it packs in(may not). When you have some spare change, then get it done if you want to.Its just that i aint any good with the inside of an engine, and its bloody frustrating using a crap engine with good crank seals, when you have 2 great engines with crap crank seals. :( and no dollar to have the crank seals done.

I couldn't agree more Gary.

I've got a bit carried away with mine & forgot that what I really want is the bike ready for use come spring :)
I was seriously thinking about having mine aqua blasted (after seeing the results other members had got) but cost & time are a factor.

So my engine will get a hefty dose of engine lacquer & thats it, then the real dosh will go towards getting the barrels done & a new pair of piston kits.

I'll have to get it done so it's right Gary.It ran when we got it but only just and as I've stripped it I've found that someone has been in there before me,and a certain amount of buffoonery has allready been inflicted on the poor thing. It was the same with the rolling chassis.
Now then as far as the inside of a motor is concerned I know my limits, and this is it I hav'nt got the tools, knowledge or ability to rebuild the crank, but I know some people who do,so its off to westgate road with it next week.
I'm not in a big hurry to finish the bike and the plan is to have a nice clean useable KR1s at the end of it all.So I can wait till the coin is available.
But I will just be posting stuff in Grumpy old men  and listening to seasick steve \:D/
