Hi Charles, I have a 1s in the shed that I haven't started to 'restore' yet, what are the chances of me needing a set of these when I come to strip the motor?? I know its a 64,000$$ question, but I don't want to not reserve a set, and then find later they are knackered and I've missed the last batch.

It's a fair bit of money for something I might not want, if you see what I mean. :? :? bikes done 17,00 miles if thats any help?

Open to anyone with any experience, of which I have none on the Kwak :)

Hi,
the valves itself don't wear out much, they only get covered with oil/coal residues. From my experience the valve shafts are so soft, the seals wear them off and then they start leaking. You could try (with the linkages removed) how much play they've got, by pulling the valve shaft sideways. You won't be able to see the impact the oil seals have had though. If you want to be sure just pull the head off (but take the barrels and head as one unit off the case). If you take off the head alone, you're likely to break a valve.....

regards,
Charles

The second batch of F3 valves will be ready by late March Herbert just told me. Raw material has been ordered. Manufacturing them will take approx 2 weeks. [-o<

I don't want to hijack this thread but to be honest, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'm pretty sure there will be some original valves going spare once all the F3 valves have been fitted by the members.

As I'm having trouble getting my money for the pullies/stars from those who ordered them I must unfortunately ask for a 70€ deposit for those who want a set of valves.

Please send me the 70€ per paypal (those who haven't got my paypal addy, please send me a pm) no later than March 6.

I will remove those from the list who won't have paid till then, as I'm not going to beg people to pay for stuff they ordered again.

One milling machine has gone out of order Herbert told me today. It happened last week (when herbert himself was away on holiday), because of Easter he's still waiting for the necessary parts to arrive. He hopes to get them by the end of this weeks and expects to have the machine repaired by next Monday. Valves will then be ready in 1-2 week's time

sorry for the delay,
Charles
