Stripped thread

Post by raw1981 »

I was installing the clutch on my kr1, and as I was tightening a bolt on the outer clutch housing I heard a noise like a rifle discharging. Oh dear, a stripped thread. I was using a torque wrench but it just wasn't clicking, so I kept on going.

This bolt goes through the outer and inner clutch housing and resides in the crank case. Can I just drill out the bottom of the thread or will I need a new crankcase? Is it a really bad idea to run it with one bolt missing from the clutch housing?
