Airbox Drain ?

Anyone any idea if there's meant to be anything in the drain holes at the bottom of the air box ?

Something fell out of mine when I was cleaning it, but I think it was just a manky old bit of silicon

Tempted just to block them off. Any thoughts folks ?

Just put my airbox back on and i have the two holes and one has got a bit of foam in, iam not sure if they should both have it,

Mine had some manky old silicone in too so i removed it and plugged the holes with some big screws from the outside.

Not sure what is meant to be there

think they are for drainage. dont think yhey should be blocked off

Don't block them off. They are meant to have foam in them.

I'd be worried about the foam being sooked into the engine ??

Tempted by the Maccas route

The box is so deep, I can't imagine it filling up enough to be an issue - plus it can always be drained off occasionally I suppose.

The foam should be oil soaked to prevent it being dislodged & I suppose like the air filter, to stop the ingress of dirt/dust etc

Yeah i have the airbox on and off enough at the moment to simply tip out any liquid that may collect in there.

I would have thought it would take a very long time to collect a substantial amount though, surely the only thing that can collect is two stroke oil and water, any petrol would evaporate pretty quickly so wouldn't collect, if your filter is good and well oiled then water shouldn't get through anyway,

Probably not the best idea to plug the holes but i've done it now, i know that no dirt can come in through those holes now
