Hi there guys, finally got to spend time on the kr1s!Got an airfilter in place, and started up, bike runs well without choke on.Took it down the road, got into 3rd gear and bike runs outta fuel.Carbs leaking out of bowl aswell.I am thinking float needles worn and wrong float level? Thats why she runs outta gas?Can someone give me the correct float height pls.
One other thing, do these machines have an addtional metal pipe running under the tank, at the lowest point?I have just blocked this off, but looks likes factory?Any assistance will be appreciated.Kurt.

not sure which pipe you mean ?
there is one that comes from the fuller-cap, it is to drain any standing water there. so no, you can't block it
as for running out of gas : first thing to do : go out again, and when it happens again, open you tank-cap and listen if you hear the tank sucking in air. if this is the case, your air-vent is blocked.? Air needs to get into the tank to replace the consumed volume of fuel. if this can not happen, a vacuum is created inside the tank that prevents to fuel to flow to the carb's.
if this is not the problem : check the flow out of the fuel tap. does it run well, or is it more like dribbling ? if it dribbles, you need to clean out the tap (and best put some inline-filters)
when this is also ok, clean the carb's, set the float height correct, and check that your float-valves are working properly.
on th other hand : if your bowl's are leaking fuel, it's hard to run out of gas

I wouldn't go to the expense of replacing needes without looking elsewhere first - they aren't really subject to a lot of wear
I had a KR once that was always leaking out of one carb or the other - no
matter how many times i cleaned them or checked the float heights
Sold it to another forum member who blew them through with compressed
air and i understand this cleared the problem
I would try this first along with checking the float heights as it won't cost
you anything
