There's something magic about a garage workshop that's actually being used rather than it being an extention to the lounge. Then again come to think of it, I spend more time in the garage than the lounge - so maybe for me it is the lounge

Time for another beer 8)

Sounds great Teerex - can't fault ya !
I've got planning approved for a building on the rear which should give me more space for my toys in the Garage. I may just have to take a leaf outta your book ... Including the single malt

Im on my 4th whisky now, i wanted to put a 9x6mtr garage with a pitched roof out of reclaimed tile and bricks to match the house but the council said no, i had to have a 2mtr border around it with a flat roof! so instead of it being from one side of the garden to the other it would be smack bang in the middle of my lawn!!!

After a phone call they said we are not saying you cant have your garage just sent more plans and a cheque!!!

Like we dont pay them enough money.

Hey that sounds familiar !!
I had a battle with the council because I wanted the building up to the boundary and the pitch apex was over 2.5m high. Ended up reducing the size to 6 x 5m (but kept a good pitch on it as I like plenty of headroom at over 3m).

You got that right!

Im either going to try and find a nice looking sectional garage or a nice fancy wooden one with a porch to sit and drink my whisky.

Ive rented out the house in Goole and the foreign family who are in are very nice buy dont even use the garage so i might drop there rent £50 and use it for storage.

LOL my garages are where mates come round and what ever is said in there stays in there, kind of a gentleman's, club. :)

A nice wooden garage is about £5000 or a concrete on is £2500.

well hopefully mine will come down its only a fabricated thing but it does a good job, bit to much con gets very wet, so a new brick one with a bit of heating with some vents sholud do the trick, until then i'm wishing but good ole fab will do.

A friend of mine said that the planning rules had now changed, and you no longer need planning permission for a single storey extension to the rear of a house. Has anyone heard of this?

Cheers,
Bernie :D

Let me know Teerex if you get planning relaxed.

As soon as I wanted my building up to the boundary - all sorts of planning rules seemed to kick in :x
