Gearbox Oil Level

Post by raychappo »

A new KR1 owner here.
I think my gearbox may be over full as the sight glass is completely coverered when engine stopped and bike on its side stand.
Also, when the bike is running whilst on its side stand, oil appears to be dripping out of the engine case breather pipe.
I know I could drain the oil completely and fill with the recommended quantity, but what should the normal level be. Should it be up to the centre of the sight glass when the bike is vertical and not on its side stand?
Thanks

it's 0.85l.

to check : hold the bike straight up and wait a couple of minutes if the engine has just run. level should be right in the middle of the glass

Thanks
I thought that was the way to check, as on most other bikes.
Mine is well over full, oil goes way past top of sight glass.
Have I read here somewhere that the 2T oil can find its way into the geabox via a leaking oil seal behind the oil pump to make the gearbox overfull ?

Also, what oil do you guys recommend for the gearbox?
