KR1, KR1S Engine No position?

Post by scooble »

On my original KR1 engine, the engine number is just behind the clutch arm, however, is the KR1S engine number in the same place?

the reason why I ask is that the engine I built from a set of cases I acquired from a breaker does not have the engine number on the raised ridge just behind the clutch cover. In fact the area is completely clean with no machine marks at all as if it was never there in the first place.
Thats why I was wondering if the KR1S cases had the engine number in the same place.

or it was a set bought new as spares since no machining traces ? I suppose if you buy a new set of cases, there isn't an engine number in it ? In Belgium, if you buy a new frmae, it always comes wuthout numbers, you are supposed to stamp in your own from the frame you wrecked.

somehow, i don't think the ACU scrutineers are going to like that, prolly tell me to go home. I do also have a standard engine and a scrap top section both with numbers on though

I've never had a scroot check engine no, only had 1 check frame no and they told me I couldn't use bike (vin no been tampered with) as numbers ran up head stock instead of down untill another scroot put them right, the engine no is hard to see when in frame and even harder when smeared with race oil and dust, you could always stamp the no off the scrap cases(replacements for damaged).

Scrutineers never check the engine number, just write down the number off your knackered cases.
