rear shock.....saggy
another query for you all,
my current bike is an 06 zx6r so the new arrival of my KR1s is presenting me with all kinds of new issues.
The rear end on the bike feels a little saggy to say the least, when you compress the back end of the bike it returns a little slower than i would have expected almost as if the rebound damping is set to high, but i imagine it is more a case of 18 years of use,
can the rear shock be rebuilt? if so is there some one that comes recommended? or is it better to just put in a replacement unit?
any comment will be greatly appretiated

They can be rebuilt, I have used Russ at Mick Gardner racing for this. The trouble is that the shaft can wear, and if that has happened then ur'll need a replacement. Some late model R6 shocks can be made to fit but they are a tad longer and so only really work well with a 17" RGV rear wheel conversion and even then they are a bit too long for the road as they jack the rear up a fair bit, but they can be shorted to sort.
You can get some aftermarket shocks. I had Russ convert an Ohlins unit for me and I know atleast one other company makes them.

have had the rear shock rebuilt now and resprung / revaled for my weight,
had it done in the end at DPS in keighly,
well impressed with their work, have added before and after pics,

yes i dropped the shock off, more so i could sus the place out as I tend to be a little sceptical at the best of times,
I found them through an ebay listing, and through that they can arrange for collection and delivery of the shock for very reasonable prices,
turns out they are a bike shop, but they have a specialist workshop where all they do is rebuild shocks and forks etc, they see themselves as a ktech competitor
They do seem to do a lot of work also with race preparation of two strokes, he apparentley owns a pretty trick KR1s himself, and they were working on a reverse cylinder TZR, RS250, RGV250 when i was in the shop,
reasonable price, with a quick turn around,
the only negative feedback i would have on them is the guy that runs the business (andy) lacks customer service skills and needs a little encouragment to engage in an explanation of what they are / aren't doing etc. i think he is more used to dealing with people who've known him years so isn't used to having to justify his work
