Hi Guys

Well, picked the KR up thurday night and robe her to her MOT friday morning which she passed first time. Perfect.

She happily got up to 110 leptons on the way back along the A27, but I have a question...

She is awfully spluttery and unhappy between 5 and 7k. After that she takes off, before that she is smooth too. Is this normal? I dont recall it being normal. I was wondering whether the carbs may need a clean (she has stood for 5 years in a garage under a cover) or one fo the jets may be a bit blocked?

Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received.

it's normal

if you put the needle clips in the top position it cures it :)

Thanks Garry. It really is atrocious, really spluttery until you get to 7k or so... then she goes.

Top position? Furthest away from the needle tips I take it you mean? Don't want to put them in the opposite direction....

Also check the pilot jets. These are quite small and if the bikes been standing with fuel in it then the jets can block up.

A27? Another on the south coast?
Let us know where you are based, there's a few of us down here, we could arrange a meetup.

yes top position so it drops the needle and weakens the mixture

run horrible at those revs on standard position

Robsa.
I had those exact symptoms even after cleaning carbs/jets thoroughly. A run out with the needles as low as possible (ie clip in top groove) cured all that faffing about at the 5-7k point.
I used to live in Sompting (but now live in Snodland, Kent)
