CORRECT POWER VALVE INSTALLATION

I'm finishing up the complete restoration of a 1990 KR1S and want to confirm the correct orientation of the power valve linkage. Although I took pictures of the setup prior to removing it for cleaning (see below), I'm not sure that they are correctly positioned, as the photo in the KR1 manual seems to differ to what I recorded.

First, though, are all the valves the same? Or are there right and lefts? Second, if you'll note on the image here, the tops of these valves have a screwdriver slot in them, which is different than those pictured in the manual. Those in the book have a flat machined side that seems to coordinate with the linkage arms. You'll again note that the arms on my model are completely round at the top, although the ends of the valves are flat machined on one side, which I take as being the side positioned towards the screw, as it makes sense to thread a fastener into a hole that is perpendicular to the centerline of the hole rather than trying to thread a screw into a side that is rounded.

Any help in confirming the correct orientation would be appreciated. I'm not too far along that I could remove the head to confirm the position of the openings, so if anyone has any images that shows this it would be great.

Cheers and thanks from California, where I'm one of only a handful of KR1S owner around. This bike is going to be ridden, while my perfect '92 with only 11 miles on it sits firmly in the center of my family room!

all the same

they all have that slot, they are just not visible on the picture in the manual

all correct, except : the linkage arms are always round at the top, so yours are perfectly normal. the screw automaticly aligns them correctly.

Any help in confirming the correct orientation would be appreciated.

your picture is all wrong  the picture in the manual is the correct position.

Welcome to the forum mate.

Follow the manual for setting up the power-valves (take extra care in making sure you have them alligned properly). There is no left or right hand valves unless you do the F3 kit mod to them.
Another thing when assembling your motor is to bolt the head to the barrells first, then bolt the barrells down to the case (do in reverse for disassembly to avoid snapping the valves).

PLEASE post up some pics of the bike in the lounge.... =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~
