Another daft question but i read somewhere that standard float heights don't leave alot of room left for the valve to shut off

Is this just bollox and standard is the way to go :?:

Is 19mm standard ?
Plus is leaking valves a common problem with these carbs?

standard is 19-21mm

leaking valves seems to be a problem - a lot of people seem to have
cured it with new ones - i just fixed it by adjusting as the needle itself didn't look worn - not sure if it has affected the overall volume of fuel in the float bowl - haven't had the throttle fully open long enough to find out
yet

I had a bunch of stuff from Allens so not sure
They did come without the little wire clip on the top that attachs to the float
tang though

Kawasaki built a good little bike in the KR. Put it together as they intended and it will be ok. Muck about with float heights and you will have problems.

Secret to a reliable build is being meticulous and clean. When I have stuck to that never had a problem - problems only occur when I get sloppy and lazy.

When you do any work on it it should be so clean you could eat your breakfast off it.

i stripped the carbs loads of times mark - it actually became quite
enjoyable in a warped way :?

i ran filters and all seemed clear inside so was at a loss apart from
adjusting the floats as a last resort - will see about reducing the
height until i find the leaking point #-o

thing is i'm reluctant to start tinkering again while it seems ok
