Spluttery revs at 5k sorted - thanks to you guys!

Post by robsa »

Hey guys

well, I finally got round to dropping the needles in my carbs this morning. The clips were one up from the bottom and I moved them to the very top.
To be honest, I was skeptical about such a big jump, but once I had put the tank back on and kicked her into life - I could tell immediately it was running better.
It was revving a lot more freely from the get-go. And before, it used to be a pain in the arse to start. Multiple kickings with the choke full on and finally it would splutter into life and I would gingerly nurse the throttle until it had warmed up. Now she starts first or second kick, and just sounds so much sweeter and happier.
The whole nightmare spluttering fro 4 to 7 thousand revs is totally gone. She pulls cleanly and freely all the way round the rev counter until the redline.
So I just want to give all those who helped me a big 'Thank You' as I would never have guessed doing a half-hour job could transform the bike so utterly. I would have ended up taking it to a garage who would probably charge me hundreds to tinker with the carburetors etc.
So thanks guys! I have just been on a ride which brought back all those memories of my teenage years, the bike behaved faultlessly. The wonderful growl and howl as she hits the powerband and takes off, the amazing steering and handling, it is just sublime. It really does make my R6R feel lardy and sluggish!
