Anyone any ideas about this one.I was out on the bike, did about 35 miles, bike running really good, was trickling through traffic when the bike just died, bike wasn't overheating.Couldn't get it to start by kicking it,started with bumping 1st time though?.It did this once before after only 6 miles, fuel getting through ok,anyone any ideas?.

possibly a intermittent prob with a pilot jet. failing that check the electric, stator ect. the stator is known to cause headaches until its traced. been a few stator problems in recent years that have come to light.

Dont laugh, but I had exactly the same problem at the end of last week - turned out I had the choke on! (dont know how it happened as I dont need to use the choke when its nice and warm - must have caught it on a sleeve or something when re-setting the trip meter!)
Worth a check before you go ripping your motor apart!
Cheers

Only getting 18v from the stator at 4000rpm,manual says it should be 25v or more.So i guess that's the problem.

Yes they are the same. I wouldn't bother buying a second hand one cause the chances are any 17 year old stator will be on its way out. Check in the KRchive section for info on suppliers for new stators
