if your crankshaft has been removed...
might need to check the Balance Shaft (bolted onto front of cases behind left exhaust header)

there is alignment marks/punch marks - the gears have to be aligned to the center gear on the crankshaft

http://www.kr-1s.co.uk/manual/Part%2008 ... ission.pdf

Blancer Shaft Installation
Align the punch marks on the balancer gear and crankshaft gear.

[ see page 12 (page 8-12 of manual Crankshaft/Transmission) ]

maybe you dont have one - previous owner removed??
if there wasnt one it is probably not bad because the first TZR doesnt have one(?)
BUT if the balancer is out of phase with the crank that may be your issue - worse than not having one

You won't have to balance the crank as such, but pressed cranks can twist out of alignment - haven't seen it mentioned on here though, so hopefully not a KR issue.

Could be one cylinder that's not running correctly at higher speed ?? I'd do the usual easy things first - plugs, clean the carbs etc. Are your reeds in good condition, and closing properly ? After that, worth double checking the balance position.

Good luck.

even when one cylinder is not working at all, that wouldn't produce vibrations.

I'de check the balancer shaft first  I had it one tooth wrong one time, and you can't believe how much vibrations that creates.

Loose engine mounting bolts? You mentioned it had been rebuilt.
