Silencer Options

Post by SHimmer45 »

Hi all,

been looking at various silencers from Tyga NK etc, but wondered if it is possible to buy kits to allow you to make you own bodies?

Have a look on here, everything you need, possibly works out about the same as bought cans, although I think the Tyga's are much cheaper???

nice LINK
some prices reasonable like the carbon tube, but ($18GBP) for a support strap!

your local aluminium merchant can supply many various diameters 60mm , 63.5 and including 65OD tube (~1.6mm Wall thickness)
(If youre keen you can even lay up carbon over the top of that for appearance and have something to weld onto rather than rivets that fret - clear photocopy transparency film wrapped over the top forms even glossy moldless surface while it cures)
I bought enough 65mm and 25mm extruded tube for 8 mufflers for (~$36GBP).

instead of perforated tube (getting 25mm or something NOT made from heavy pipe can be tricky) you could try Stainless mesh (comes by the metre in 1m widths) rolled up for the insulation core (or galv. wire mesh in square, but heat!). In the end you could cut slot or drill enough holes into surplus ally tube the make a weight advantage over any supplied perf tube.

but to complete the project, youre really gonna need access to lathe and a TIG for the end caps.

heres another thread Spoiler...
