Just had one of the barells repaired of my race bike (small crack where it trys to lift off the crankcase) Had it done professionally heated in a oven then welded only problem I have is when it was heated the plastic metal that is used to smooth the edges/ports has fallen off, their two complete pieces would it be ok to "re-stick" them on or should I replace with new & regrind them? Also whats best to use. I have a meeting at Brands at the week end so need to get it done asap.
Thanks Gary

Curious as to why you have plastic metal in the ports?

I haven't had much luck with welding barrels once the crack has started that is it :(

I go for a bridge to strengthen them...

I have heard of using plastic metal in the ports to create a "choke" in the port to increase the inlet velocity and to stop gasses traveling back into the crankcase.
