AR125 winter project 2012

Just picked this AR125 up from a lad at work.
I plan to restore it during this winter but god knows how many winters after that it will really take to finish it

Frame number says AR125B and its on an 'F' plate so 89. Anyone know the exact model please

Looking forward to doing it =D>

Hi Toot

I'm a bit of an AR fan and refurbished quite a few..
Good news they are really easy to work on.. Not so good news is some parts are really hard to get hold of!

I've got info on all the models and detailed parts lists so ask away

If you pm me the engine and frame numbers I will be able to tell you the exact model for both and hopefully they will match.

First thing with the refurb, if you want it to look original you will need to find a belly pan and centre fairing. I can see from the frame that's it's a model 2 so it would normally have both of these.

As for other stuff, let me know what you need as you go along and I will help where I can

I will keep an eye out for a fairing lower as i do want it back as standard as possible.

A lot of grime and rust on it but most looks like it will be going to be powder coated so not really any fuss there.

Most parts look like they will be salvagable so finger crossed i wont be getting too stuck for parts.

Just thought, this is really a KR1 forum so maybe this thread should not be on here.

Most of the AR stuff is in the KR250 section on this site
Im a KR and AR fan so I'm biased ... But I will be surprised if anyone has a problem. Kwaki rebuild threads are always interesting and the AR shares DNA with the KR250

Not that impressed with motorcyclespecs.co.za tech info though, doesn't differentiate between pre 84/5 models and post 84/5

Doesn't identify restricted and unrestricted models - which varied in power in different countries anyway (more powerful as std in South Africa etc)

And nearly a third of the info is wrong, grrrrrrr

And there is a knackered pan on E-bay that could probably be salvaged. Is this sort of damage fixable or should i just keep looking ?

Post away Toot it looks like it will be an interesting build. We still have parts michrofiches for the ARs, I'm no expert, but if you need any info just ask.

I still get me bits from the shop formerly known as Kawasaki Newcastle even tho the franchise went. The lads in the parts dept don't give up if something is listed NLA. They have sourced some hard to get hold of NOS parts for us in the past, and know Kawasakis.

I'm looking forward to following your progress.
