the frame spars need to b widened about 2 inch and a different mount for the rear..n possibly a zxr400 tank to clear the head...hmm got a spare one in the workshop at the mo i replaced cos of knocking(i now know its just piston slap, this engine had worn skirts,n very shallow pistons)... :D
n this is how the engine looked by the end of the day...... :D :D

That is some serious mechanical capers going on there. If I put that back together I would have a box of spare parts left over on completion that never seemed to go anywhere heh. I remember taking the carb apart on a r5 turbo I had and ended up with quite a few bits left over when it was put back together .. weird thing is it seemed ok so they werent really needed anyway :)

Done the same when i did a gearbox on a Fiat 127. Just threw the leftovers in the bin  .

shame you didnt throw the 127 in the bin... would have been easier

Its amazing how you get used to things I guess.... Up and till 2 years ago, the thought of topping my brake fluid up was scary.... and I would have asked my dad to help!!!

The other week, suddenly realised I had forgotten to put the rubber chain guard thingy on the swing arm, so pulled the bike to bits, slipped the shock off the linkage, un bolted the swing arm and started wiggling the rubber cover thingy on it.... My dad comes in, MY GOD, what are you doing? I didnt think anything of it... just an hours work

So, rebuilding my KR has tought me loads, I have loads of new tools to play with, lots more confidence on mechanical things and love spending a day in the garage tinkering

not really dropped a bollok as such..stripped quite a few threads in the early days n stripped a sump bolt on a gsr750..but no real dramas, never dropped or crashed anyones bike........yet :D
seen many a monkey though...they don't stay long..fcuk everything up,leave...then a week later all the crap comes flooding back.
we had a tech about a year ago struggling to get a gearbox together..i offered help and he just said"don't patronize me"..left two days later and the bike came back a day after that...
i stripped it and he'd put the detent arm spring(it holds the shift drum n stops the gearbox randomly going in and out of every gear)in a hole meant for another part.(shift fork pin).cos he couldn't get the two halves together he just did the bolts up to wind them together...YOU NEVER SHOULD DO THIS!!!
he basically screwed pins and springs in to the crank cases n it was a miracle it ever worked....by the way he now works at park lane bmw so don't get jamie to do it... [-X
