Electrical Problem?
Hi,Had a post on a couple days ago about bike not starting,a few replies telling me to check the stator. This was putting out about 17-18 volt at 4000rpm when checked.I have had to use my bike for work recently and today on the way home the rev counter gave up and have also noticed powervalves not operating either, even when turning the ignition on/off.Could this all be related to the stator problem?.Just to let you know all other electrics working fine horn, lights, indicators etc...

KR1 Man calling, I'm not much cop with generator defects relating to the kips/tacho although there is a series of tests in the manual, sect 15, 12-21. Just to say if it's stator, flywheel or reg-rec have spares of each if needed. Have you any useable engine spares? Please refer to my 'budget engine' posting for full details. Prefer to swap bits (but no problem if not an option) Good luck & best regards, KR1 Man.

when 17-18V is brought into your electr(on)ics, your asking for trouble. I wouldn't use it for 1m, I wouldn't even rev the bike any more. I'm even surprised your CDI isn't blown yet.
stop using your bike and fix the problem first, before everything is blown

If its blowing the rev counter and other bits then its the regulator thats gone.

Hi,
Have replaced rectifier and cdi, everything working again
.One thing i did notice though was the powervalve (where the cables hook on) at the motor looked to have moved out of its operating movement, took off one of the cables and it re alinged itself properly.I thought the motor was gone, but it looks like it had "jammend" the powervalves half open half shut. All working fine again.
