True or False?
Someone told me that there are two kinds of baskets for the cilinderhead, a metal one and a rubber one, true or false? If true, what are the differences between these two? How do I know what one to use?
Thanks in regard.

I'm not sure what you mean by Basket? Can you post a picture of the part in question please?

You must mean gasket, right?Laurus wrote:Someone told me that there are two kinds of baskets for the cilinderhead, a metal one and a rubber one, true or false?
Just use the original (metal) Kwak ones and apply some bond on both sides.
cheers,

Huhm, interesting, what does such a modify mean?
It's about this bike, a '94 kr1s with only 7000km...:

Unfortunately, can't get the pictures working properly.

Looks like a normal head to me?!
Is that the bike that used to belong to Jim (ZL900 from motor-forum.nl)?
If it is, how come you had to take the head off again, he did repair the one barrel, didn't he?
cheers,
Charles

Or maybe notBikemike wrote:post a picture of it and we'll be able to tell for sure.

Looks like a mark or shallow groove in the head where an O ring would sit but O ringed heads I have seen have a much deeper machined groove.
I'm sure a couple of people on here have had O ringed heads (Jan?) and will be able to tell.

Yes, it's the former bike of Jim indeed. He didn't repair the one barrel but sold it with a broken one (and piston)... So I bought it in pieces, only have to fix the barrel and hope it will be fine by then..Charles wrote:Looks like a normal head to me?!

damaged barrels repaired...
?cast iron/steel cylinder liners pressed in - alternative option to reconditioning electrofusion plated bores ?
what do the undersides of the barrel look like? will be easier to determine if it has been linered from that view.
