As the KR power valve is effectively a switch what is the point of testing in between open or closed?

I never said to test in between open and closed, and doing full open and full closed tests does not provide the correct effective open/close point.

Jan you will still split timing on a parallel twin.

So how do you recommend testing a KR power valve system if you are not meant to test in between open and closed but open and closed is wrong?

what do you mean with "split" ?

a paralel twin with matching cylindres/tuning surely requires the same timing for both no ?

No requires split timing between the cylinders, parallel, V or inline tandem timing still gets split. Split I mean that cylinders run different ignition curves.

MJ I don't know how to make it any simpler, than doing a full open then a full closed runs and comparing the 2, is not the best way to arrive at the correct effective open/close point (depending on your terminology).

Not yet and I probably won't get round to looking at it for another month. Work on the bike has been slow, but I will be picking up the pace on the rebuild very soon.

Got the bike fired up today with the new ignition.

Need to work on the configuration a bit, but all seems well so far.
