I saw the finish on Headcoats billet head and thought I want mine shinier!

I had no idea how hard it would be, but I am glad I did it

Thanks for the comments :)
When Martin was working on my engine, he could only see with one eye following an injury somewhat compared to looking at an eclipse of the sun through a telescope.
Some say he woke in the night and using a head torch walked into the kitchen only to see Bernie's engine "............the rest is history

Just finished the Southern Comfort :)

I was going to put all my NOS engine casings on and the NOS bottom exhaust bracket on, but I think it can wait until tomorrow :)

Thanks Danny I thought I was going bonkers #-o #-o #-o
The carpet hasn't seen that much action, as most of my time is spent in Premier Inns, I will dig out some more "action" photos

I like shiny but I think you are making a bit of a rod for your own back there Bernie

I would have lacquered the engine - as once it's together, in the frame and in use (i assume you are going to at least start it ) I don't think you will manage to keep the look
I know lacquer dulls the finish slightly but it does make for easier cleaning

Anyway it's your bike so good luck 8)

I have a couple spare if you want one with no spring but you can use the one you have,
Nice ring by the way

Hi Gary,
So long as you keep the salt at bay, the polished alloy is reasonably easy to keep clean.
I always give the less accessible surfaces a coat of silicon or canuba wax, so it is a rinse and wipe.
I had fully polished engines on my S3 and H1 and they were quite low maintenance.
I tried laquer a few times but it does not bond well to the polished surface, and the first stone chip lets the water underneath and makes a mess of it.
Only time will tell, but if it is raining the bike will be staying in the garage
Cheers,
Bernie :)

Thanks, I will have a go and give you a shout if I get stuck (if I bust mine) :(

You are the only person to have ever said "I had a nice ring"
I am going to have a go at shimming the bottom fixing now.

Cheers

Me to Jarno, it has taken a lot longer than I planned, I only intended to give her a quick tidy up, but she was in worse condition than I thought :(
But nearly done now and I am pleased with the results so far :)
