My other little project... Carlton
I was at work one day and one of the lads was going to throw an old bicycle into the skip, I asked if I could have it, he replied yeah give me £15 for it and its yours!!!
So I handed over £15.
It was a complete bike when I got it but as you can see in a very sorry state.
I have since found out it is a 1959 Carlton with a Raynolds 531 frame, worth around £1,000 to £1,500 when completed.
Hope you liked my pics.

Nice Ian =D>
I have a 1959 ATCO lawnmower in the loft, it is a single cylinder Villiers side valve with an Amal carb. My dad bought it the week I was born (I have been promising myself I would restore it for the last ten years, maybe when I finish the KR).

The last two occasions when I have been walking the dogs at my local park I have seen a Red Chopper and an Orange one, both in mint condition

I had a look in the loft today and found a spare engine complete with carb, so I filled up the carb with petrol (gave it a tickle, and she started second pull

I'm getting there. I have had the lug lining done in gold, period pump, red dot levers and reynolds decals.

Re: My other little project... Carlton
A guy in Dorset offered me silly money for it so I have now sold it, he must have really wanted it as he did the 10hr drive to pick it up himself.
I am now on with an even nicer 1968/69 Raleigh Rapier built by the Carlton company that is a keeper, I have bought lots of shiny Campagnolo parts for it and Brooks seat and wooden bar ends, red dot Weinmann levers etc.
The paint will be done by a different painter this time, the guy does all the airbrush art on custom bikes, I will be having it painted in the standard colours but I will be having the front and rear dropouts nickle plated.
A pic of some shiny bits, a Silca pump, which will have a Campagnolo bottom mounting and top umbrella fitting, also I have just bought a Campag gear selector not shown in this pic.

Nice Grifter Pookie, we have a mk1 in the same colour. My 10 year old son thinks it's amusing when me or the wife ride it up and down but it does make you smile.
