Remember if you brace (weld) the barrel it will distort (amount of distortion will depend on whether barrel and brace were pre-heated before welding). The barrel (crankcase side) will need to be skimmed to get it level again. Should only require 0.1 to 0.2 mm but will put your port timing and squish out requiring a thicker base gasket to bring things back.

Yes Mark is correct, the welds pull the base a small amount, so the bases do require skimming. Barrels are away again at my engineers being worked.

Water pump also arrived, so I've made a start on attaching the coolant hoses. Need to wait until the head arrives before I can finish this job though.

Made a little more progress with my exhausts today, everything is really slow going at the moment.

Ben if i woke up from a wet dream and thought exhausts! They would look like yours.
Brilliant, just as Bernie drops off the polishing, you pop up with engineering innovation.

Thanks Steve, I'm trying. The polishing will start when the engineering finishes :)

Those are the lomas pipes Shaun. I just stuck them on to see how it looked, as my custom pipes won't be finished until August. Just got too much else on at the moment to work on them.
