Backfiring Part2

Post by Trxbadger »

Help, i fear it may not be long until i'm sectioned under the mental health act unless i can fix this cursed kr1s. Carrying on from my previous topic of backfiring. I have now replaced the cdi and double checked the new stator, as per the manual and still no go. Now i am getting intermittant sparking. As it's a wasted spark system i'm assuming it should spark simultaniously, but mine sparks simultaniously then on the right then left. just randomly and then sometimes not at all. I was convinced it was cdi problems as everything else has been changed. I am now completely out of ideas but refuse to let this swine get the better of me. Any ideas apart from burn it? Cheers. :(

is it a brand new stator ? if not, how do you know if it's ok ?

best thing to do is find someone near you that has a running KR, and change parts untill you found what's causing the problem.
My ultimate goal is to die young as late as possible !

The intermitant spark youve described makes me think it's the coil, especially the fact that you say it goes from both to one or the other.
I'd try to find a known good coil from a running bike if someone will lend you one for testing.

Good luck.
Cheers, Scott.

Just fitted a new h.t coil, stator and pick up coil. Also pulled the flywheel off to make sure the woodruff key hadn't sheared off. Magnets are all ok in the rotor.
