Lovely, it looks lean and mean.
Bet it's light, have you weighed it?

very nice example stu, theres one or 2 nice ones kicking about in club racing circles. very strong engines in terms of power AND reliability. very very light once in the gamma and a wheelie machine, even with clipons round the bottom yoke!!!! i likethe mean stealth look of yours stu, what sort of engine work have you had??? i really need to do something with mine ie fit sensible wheels/forks and swinger to beef it up a bit. mainly so i can get decent rubber but also improves looks no end. i have thought about using kr swinger and forks on mine, is it fairly straight forward?

thanks for the good words it took 2 months from a frame hanging on the wall to my first race
i started with the origional gear ratios and ended up dropping ten teeth of the rear. it still wheelies in first but it beats a standing start in second and a short shift to third just to get off the line and the hill at scarborough was just terrible i burnt a clutch out in 3 runs.
the front end is pretty easy, i used kr1s yolks with a gsxr400 forks , wheel disks and calipers and they are great , you need a spacer under the bottom bearing to shorten the stem but it goes together easy. if you want i could measure mine as i am doing the seals and bushes in the forks soon as they are showing a little wear ( scruteneers don't miss a thing).
the bike weighs nowt i can pick it up and walk with it and i am only 12 stone wet. i might weigh it if i can get it to work.
the engine has a loony tune by armstrong racing in newcastle and kev is first class i refuse to use anyone else as i have gone to him since i was 16 even when in the trade he did my rebores never ever had a bad one . it runs rd lc nikons , kr carbs ( standard jets etc they were spot on ), fibre reeds 5mm spacers, boost bottle, programable ignition, lightened fly wheel, power valves locked open, i want some v power reeds for a little more umph then that is it. she has ran 6 events this year and apart from a head gasket and water pump seal has been faultless ( engine had been lying under my bench for 2 years and i bought it as a spare for my road bike.

nice pics stu, id appreciate as much info as you can give mate, the yamagamma is such a good idea that even now all it needs is some modern(ish ie 90's) wheels/brakes/rubber to be in with a shot. i have most of the bits to do similar to you ie kr swingarm etc but recently lacked motivation. seeing your bike has spurred me on a bit and would love to know whats involved in grafting the back end in. thanks for the pics, cheers matt

back end

this is more difficult i will take some photos later to try and explain.
i made 2 top hat spacers that shim the swing arm out and take up the difference between the bearings and the spindle.
the lower dog bone mount i made a aluminium block that clamps on the bottom frame mount.
the top shock mount is a steel affair that crosses over the frame and clamps the shock.
it was all a bit heath robinson / belt and braces but actually works real well and i am probably going to improve the workmanship this winter.
the rear wheel is a 1200 bandit with some major re working of the sprocket carrier. i may cut and weld the swing arm to allow a 160 tyre as i cannot get cheap wets and yo need them under the trees in dalby and scarborough.
overall i just wanted a faster bike to compete with and although it is much faster than the elsie it is the little rd that has carried me succesfully through this year
best newcommer and 5th in the overall championship has really got me going for next year and i am looking for a 600 to run alongside the ypvs and keep the elsie as a spare bike incase i blow something up prices are so bad it aint worth selling anything just sit on it till the market changes.
As i said it only took 2 months from absolute scratch to being on the start line and about £500 all in get your parts from ebay whilst everything is so cheap and get on the track next year \:D/
